DESCRIPTION BOOK:

A new adventure begins on Harmony… With its opulent casinos and hotels, the desert city of Illusion Town is totally unique—and will take you on a thrill ride you’ll never forget. Hannah West isn’t the first woman to wake up in Illusion Town married to a man she barely knows, but she has no memory of the ceremony at all. For that matter, neither does Elias Coppersmith, her new husband. All either can remember is that they were on the run… With Hannah’s dubious background and shaky para-psych profile, she could have done much worse. The cooly competent mining heir arouses her curiosity—as well as other parts of her mind and body. And even her dust bunny likes him. But a honeymoon spent retracing their footsteps leads Hannah and Elias into the twisting underground catacombs, where secrets from both their pasts will come to light—and where the energy of their clashing auras will grow hot enough to burn…

DESCRIPTION BOOK:

From a happy childhood to a member of the Black Dot gang. Later, the Air Force trained me in Electronic Espionage and awarded me a Top Secret clearance. In Trabzon, Turkey, I intercepted secret Russian Morse Code messages, regarding Antiballistic missiles. Left the Air Force and went into business. As Treasurer in a marketing firm, things were great; but the CEO perpetrated a scam, and stole thousands of dollars from investors. Our Hollywood attorney represented us, but, also the Mafia. The Feds hauled our company into Court for interstate fraud. Having to do nothing with the scam, the court let me off the hook. The CEO went to prison on another scam; our flamboyant attorney also went to prison for financing the mob in a "Roving Casino in L.A." I went to work for another "prosperous" company owned by two 24-year-old principals. Eight weeks after working for them, the young pair was caught committing a $1.8 million "Check Kiting"scheme. We did business in Diamonds, Investments, and produced a major motion picture, Stroker Ace, starring Burt Reynolds, as Stroker Ace. Four years later, the young entrepreneurs were tried; one of them went to prison. I became a full-fledged alcoholic, suffered two bankruptcies, and almost lost my life several times and my family. After 5 years of repentance and going through the cleansing fire of God, I came to my senses. The last 20 years have been wonderful with blessings, teaching the Word, and laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover. I have had numerous Miracles, Visions, and Prophecies that have come to pass. Today, in my golden years, what can I say...God is good, great, and awesome!! Never did accumulate any wealth. But I have Jesus--I have it all!

DESCRIPTION BOOK:

Weimar Germany (1919–33) was an era of equal rights for women and minorities, but also of growing antisemitism and hostility toward the Jewish population. This led some Jews to want to pass or be perceived as non-Jews; yet there were still occasions when it was beneficial to be openly Jewish. Being visible as a Jew often involved appearing simultaneously non-Jewish and Jewish. Passing Illusions examines the constructs of German-Jewish visibility during the Weimar Republic and explores the controversial aspects of this identity—and the complex reasons many decided to conceal or reveal themselves as Jewish. Focusing on racial stereotypes, Kerry Wallach outlines the key elements of visibility, invisibility, and the ways Jewishness was detected and presented through a broad selection of historical sources including periodicals, personal memoirs, and archival documents, as well as cultural texts including works of fiction, anecdotes, images, advertisements, performances, and films. Twenty black-and-white illustrations (photographs, works of art, cartoons, advertisements, film stills) complement the book’s analysis of visual culture.

DESCRIPTION BOOK:

Six years after her husband’s sudden death, Corina Taylor still felt the heaviness and deep pain of loss. As she embarked on a journey of self-discovery, every uncomfortable truth about herself, her relationships, the world she inhabited, and the systems and structures that silently governed her beliefs and behaviors slowly began to unravel, ultimately prompting the powerful realization that the death she was grieving was not her husband’s, but her own. For many years she conformed to the roles and expectations society placed on her, listened to the “shoulds,” and became attached to stories that did not serve her. She lost herself in the process. As Corina began to look within, she learned how our systems distort our reality, mask our true nature and alter our behaviour in destructive ways. Once she stopped assuming systems are a given, she chose to interact differently with them or abandon them entirely. By seeing them for what they are, their power over her eventually dissolved, allowing her to reclaim her autonomy and freedom. Illusions shares a roadmap of how one woman removed the blinders, healed her wounds, and dismantled the status quo after the sudden death of her husband.

Simply reading it will open your eyes to new worlds of possibilities. You’ll change once you’re exposed to the illusions most live under and by, and putting into practice any of these very simple teachings will open the door for you to achieve your highest potential. Choices and Illusions tells the story of one man’s journey into the workings of the human mind and our reason for being. The adventure is every bit as exciting as the best scientific discoveries. Eldon Taylor’s approach is pragmatic, and his conclusions are inspirational and soul enhancing. Along the journey, you’ll hear fantastic stories of divine intervention, see why you think and do what you don’t wish to do, and understand the very clear message that it’s never too late to be happy and succeed, regardless of your past actions. Eldon says, "Many believe that self-help and self-improvement is about rags to riches, failure to success, and so forth, when indeed it’s the beginning of a journey into self-discovery. Inside every human being is an eternal truth and a life purpose. Using our mind power is simply starting the engine on that path toward highest self-actualization."

Illusions of Location Theory Consequences for Blue Economy in Africa

Illusions of Location Theory Consequences for Blue Economy in Africa

Editor: Vernon Press
Pages: 466
ISBN: 9781648891595

DESCRIPTION BOOK:

"Illusions of Location Theory: Consequences for Blue Economy in Africa" questions the relevance of ‘location theory’ in explaining the coastal-hinterland continuum and the implications for the utilization of blue economy ecosystem in such a contested space in Africa. It pays more attention to territorial contestations, maritime disputes, vulnerabilities of landlocked states, and expansionist policies as displayed through spatial organizational regimes. These areas of investigation have previously been largely studied from the narrow perspective of ‘location’, unduly focusing on comparative advantages of ‘distance’, while neglecting the influence of ‘forces’ such as technology, ideology, and the power of mental mapping in spatial decision making. This volume puts forward the argument that the harmonious relationship between states, and efficient exploitation of the blue economy ecosystem in ways that promote peace between states, lies not only in the structural transformation of markets, but also in bridging the spatial and social divide between the coastal and hinterland societies. Thus, this work proffers possibilities for a holistic regime for managing Africa’s coastal-hinterland continuum through innovative strategies such as SMART blue economies and the infusion of the geopolitical dimension into the management of maritime and territorial diplomacy. The combination of theoretical and empirical analysis, buttressed by in-depth case studies of what works in the management of blue economy ecosystem and what does not work, make this volume ideal for researchers, students, and practitioners interested in African regional studies, African political economy, political geography, strategic military studies, governance of seas and oceans, and maritime science/diplomacy.

DESCRIPTION BOOK:

In his national bestselling 1988 CBC Massey Lectures, Noam Chomsky inquires into the nature of the media in a political system where the population cannot be disciplined by force and thus must be subjected to more subtle forms of ideological control. Specific cases are illustrated in detail, using the U.S. media primarily but also media in other societies. Chomsky considers how the media might be democratized (as part of the general problem of developing more democratic institutions) in order to offer citizens broader and more meaningful participation in social and political life.

DESCRIPTION BOOK:

Welcome to the world of Harmony, where—despite its name, things are anything but—danger lurks just beneath the surface in this new novel by New York Times bestselling author, Jayne Castle. If there’s something Ravenna Chastain knows, it’s when to end things. And after she almost winds up the victim of a cult that believes she’s a witch, it’s easy to walk away from her dead-end career, ready for a new start. But where to find a job that would allow her to use her very specialized skill set? The answer is clear: she becomes a matchmaker. But even a successful matchmaker can’t find someone for everyone, and Ravenna considers Ethan Sweetwater her first professional failure. After nine failed dates, Ravenna knows it’s time to cut Ethan loose. But Ethan refuses to be fired as a client—he needs one final date to a business function. Since Ravenna needs a date herself to a family event, they agree to a deal: she will be his (business) date if he will be her (fake) date to her grandparents’ anniversary celebration. What Ethan fails to mention is that attending the business function is a cover for some industrial espionage that he’s doing as a favor to the new Illusion Town Guild boss. Ravenna is happy to help, but their relationship gets even more complicated when things heat up—the chemistry between them is explosive, as explosive as the danger that’s stalking Ravenna. Lucky for her, Ethan isn’t just an engineer—he’s also a Sweetwater, and Sweetwaters are known for hunting down monsters…
